A.	Sydney Opera House was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007 as one of the most iconic buildings in the world. Its planning began in the 1940s, as the existing building for large theatrical productions was not large enough. The Opera House was designed by a Danish architect Jorn Utzon whose design was selected as the winning one among 232 other entries in an international design competition. The formal inauguration of the building took place on 20 October 1973.
B.	The Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 in Paris. It was designed as an entrance to the 1889 World’s Fair and named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. However, initially the plan was to make it stand for only twenty years since its construction. C.	The Electric Forest Festival, which started less than a decade ago, is a four-day multi-genre event, held in Rothbury, Michigan. The main focus of the event is upon electronic and jam bands. But what captures the eyes is a special atmosphere during this festival. The surrounding environment becomes a kaleidoscope of laser light shows. The mixture of electronic lights and the sounds appeal to different senses and together create a unique, surreal, magical experience.
D.	Casa Mila, designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí, is one of Barcelona’s World Heritage sites and is one of the most visited attractions the city has to offer. The building is also known as “La Pedrera” translated as the Stone wave, because of the facade which is made up completely with natural stones and does not have any straight lines. Gaudi explained it by the fact that straight lines cannot be found anywhere in the wild landscape and it can be made only by men.
E.	To mark the end of the Christmas season, Shetland in Scotland celebrates a variety of fire festivals every year. The most interesting of them is held at the capital, where this practice was born as early as in 1876, when strong men dragged barrels with burning tar on sledges. Today, thousands of people dress up in period-clothes. The procession burns down the model of a Viking ship. The brightness of the fire and men in clothes of the long-gone era make a spectacle show.

You definitely should not sleep through the New Year, as it is considered a bad omen and will make the upcoming year sleepy and uneventful for you. If you’re in Moscow, you can head to several look-out points in the city to watch the fireworks. I am absolutely sure that when I was in Vienna, I rarely heard classical music as often as I did in Russia in the winter.
And to finish with my advertisement, I should mention that Russians are people with a highly-developed culture, especially musically. I was amazed at their good taste for music. It is impressive how many concerts are performed in Moscow and St. Petersburg, the country’s two major cities. At the end of the year, the number of these concerts increases and tickets for the Bolshoi Theatre are sold out months in advance.
To sum up, if you want to see Russia all lit up and covered with winter beauty, dress warmly and embark on a trip in December. But don’t plan too much for the last week, as it gets very crowded with people doing last-minute preparations.

I am currently doing a school project that looks at why computer games are so popular among Zetland teenagers. To collect data, I found the results of an opinion poll conducted among teenagers in Zetland who play regularly.

The table shows that 46 percent of the teenagers surveyed play mainly because they are "looking for entertainment", while 21 percent value "making new friends" through games. A further 13 percent play for "improving mental skills".

If we compare the two least common reasons, only 11 percent mentioned "developing hand-eye coordination", and merely 9 percent picked "seeking relaxation". Fun and social connection clearly attract teenagers more than any physical benefit. The considerable gap between the leading answer and the rest suggests that entertainment value clearly outweighs every other motive for playing computer games.

Losing track of time in front of a screen instead of studying or sleeping is an easy trap for a teenage gamer to fall into. Setting a strict daily limit, using the tools already built into most devices, keeps this firmly under control. Choosing games with a natural stopping point also makes that limit noticeably easier to respect.

In conclusion, in my opinion, computer games can genuinely play a positive role in a teenager's life, because, so long as they are enjoyed in moderation, they offer entertainment, social connection and, quite often, useful mental challenges as well.

I am currently working on a school project that explores why Zetland teenagers decide to take a part-time job. To research this, I found a bar chart with the results of an opinion poll conducted among teenagers in Zetland who currently have one.

The data show that 40 percent of the respondents work mainly for "getting pocket money", while 24 percent value "getting work experience". A further 14 percent take a job for "acquiring new skills".

Comparing the two least common reasons is interesting: another 14 percent chose "learning more about different jobs", and only 8 percent picked "testing oneself". Immediate financial reward clearly matters more than long-term career exploration. The fairly close figures for the middle three answers suggest that, once the need for pocket money is met, teenagers value experience and skills almost equally.

Working too many hours at a part-time job can seriously damage a teenager's school performance. Agreeing on a maximum number of weekly hours with an employer before accepting the position prevents this problem from the very start. Choosing a job with a flexible weekend schedule also tends to protect study time far more effectively.

To conclude, in my opinion, a part-time job can play a genuinely valuable role in a teenager's life, because it teaches responsibility and the real value of money well before they ever enter full-time employment after leaving school.

Birds are warm-blooded. It means that their body temperature stays about the same. It doesn't depend much on the temperature of their surroundings. Mammals, including humans, are also warm-blooded.
Birds have always fascinated people. Many people keep birds as pets. We also enjoy watching them in the wild or at zoos. In addition, farmers raise chickens, ducks and geese for their meat and eggs. Also, some people are quite fond of bird hunting.

Amy, the volunteering project — two photos, and they're about pretty different kinds of helping out. The first shows a group of people in gloves collecting litter into a black bag along a riverbank. The second has a woman gently petting a dog at what looks like an animal shelter. Cleaning up outdoors and caring for an animal in a shelter aren't much alike, but both count as proper volunteering, which is the point.
Cleaning up litter genuinely protects nature and keeps parks and rivers nice for everyone who uses them. Helping at a shelter gives homeless animals proper care and attention, and honestly a real shot at a better life. The downside of litter picking is that it's dirty, and sometimes properly unpleasant, work. Shelter work can be emotionally hard too, especially once you get attached to an animal you can't take home.
Given the choice, I'd pick the animal shelter — I love animals, and looking after them just feels rewarding. Litter picking does plenty of good as well, but working with animals means more to me personally. Both kinds of volunteering matter a lot, honestly, but the shelter is closer to my heart. Fancy signing up at the shelter together sometime? Just a thought — bye for now!
