Task 4. Imagine that you and your friend are doing a school project “The games people like”. You have found some photos to illustrate it but for technical reasons you cannot send them now. Leave a voice message to your friend explaining your choice of the photos and sharing some ideas about the project. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:
·explain the choice of the illustrations for the project by briefly describing them and noting the differences;
·mention the advantages (1–2) of the two types of games;
·mention the disadvantages (1–2) of the two types of games;
·express your opinion on the subject of the project – which type of games you prefer and why.
You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (12–15 sentences). You have to talk continuously.

Что нужно сделать. 1) объяснить выбор фотографий, кратко описав их и отметив различия; 2) назвать 1–2 достоинства двух видов игр; 3) назвать 1–2 недостатка этих видов игр; 4) высказать мнение — какой вид игр вы предпочитаете и почему.

Jack! Two photos for the games project, coming right up. First one: a girl with headphones on, totally lost in a video game at her computer. Second one: a mum and her daughter playing chess together on the sofa. One's all pixels and reflexes, the other's an old wooden board — nothing alike, which is exactly why they work for the topic.
Video games have great graphics and let you compete with people online, which is a big draw. Chess isn't flashy, but it makes you think properly and gets you actual face-to-face time with family. The catch with video games is the hours — they eat up your evening without you noticing. Chess can feel slow if you're not used to planning several moves ahead, so it puts some people off.
Me? Video games, no contest — I love the fast action and playing with mates online. Chess is fine sometimes, but it never gives me quite the same buzz. Both have their fans, sure, but I'll always reach for a video game first. So yeah, video games get my vote — argue with me at lunch if you disagree!
