Task 4. Imagine that you and your friend are doing a school project “Tastes differ”. You have found some photos to illustrate it but for technical reasons you cannot send them now. Leave a voice message to your friend explaining your choice of the photos and sharing some ideas about the project. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:
- explain the choice of the illustrations for the project by briefly describing them and noting the differences;
- mention the advantages (1–2) of the two ways of watching films;
- mention the disadvantages (1–2) of the two ways of watching films;
- express your opinion on the subject of the project – how you prefer to watch films and why.
You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (1215 sentences). You have to talk continuously.

Ella, how do you usually watch films? That's basically what these two photos for our “Tastes differ” project are about. One shows a young couple sitting in a cinema, 3D glasses on, popcorn between them. The other has a couple relaxing on their sofa at home, watching something on TV instead. Going out to the big screen or staying in for a small one — that's really how different our tastes can be, which is what the project's all about.
The cinema gives you a proper huge screen, brilliant sound, and an atmosphere you can't really get elsewhere. Watching at home wins on comfort, though, since you get to relax on your own sofa. Cinema tickets and snacks add up fast, so one evening out can get surprisingly expensive. Home viewing tends to mean a smaller screen, plus more things around you to get distracted by.
I'd always pick the cinema myself — that huge screen and the atmosphere just do something for me. Home viewing's cosy, no argument there, but it never quite beats an actual cinema trip.
