Задание 38.1
Imagine that you are doing a project on why many young Zetlanders choose a military career. You have found some data on the subject – the results of a survey (see the table below) .
Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project.

Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project.

What is the aim of your summer holiday this year?
Write 200–250 words.
Use the following plan:
–make an opening statement on the subject of the project;
–select and report 2–3 facts;
–make 1–2 comparisons where relevant and give your comments;
– outline a problem that can arise with a beach holiday and suggest a way of solving it;
– conclude by giving and explaining your opinion on what the most exciting summer holiday is.

Что нужно сделать. Задание альтернативное: 38.1 или 38.2, ученик выбирает один вариант. Оба построены по единому плану из пяти пунктов: вступление о теме проекта и об опросе; 2–3 факта с цифрами; 1–2 сравнения с комментарием; проблема строго по формулировке пункта 4 плана; мнение автора строго по вопросу пункта 5 плана. Объём — 200–250 слов.
Вариант 38.1 (table). Тема проекта — почему многие молодые жители Зетландии выбирают военную карьеру. Источник данных — table, опрос среди: young Zetlanders who serve in the armed forces. Проблема курсантов военного училища в процессе учёбы (пункт 4 плана); мнение о важности воспитания патриотизма у молодёжи (пункт 5 плана).

I am currently doing a school project that looks at the reasons behind young Zetlanders' interest in a military career. To collect material, I found the results of a survey conducted among young Zetlanders who serve in the armed forces.
The table shows that 48 percent of the respondents named "patriotism" as their main motive, while 20 percent chose "public significance" instead. A further 18 percent said that "leadership opportunities" attracted them to this career. These numbers reflect a strong overall sense of duty among the young people who took part.
If we compare the two least common reasons, only 9 percent mentioned "family tradition", and merely 5 percent picked "adventure". A sense of duty clearly matters more than personal or family motives here.
Combining intense physical training with demanding academic subjects is far from easy for military academy students. Offering flexible timetables that give struggling students extra time after tough training periods would help them keep up with their coursework. Peer mentoring from senior cadets could also make this transition noticeably smoother for newcomers.
In conclusion, I am convinced that raising patriotic feeling among young people carries great importance, because citizens who genuinely care about their country are naturally far more willing to protect, serve and improve it for the generations that will follow.

I am currently working on a school project that explores how Zetlanders like to spend their summer trips. To research this, I found a pie chart with the results of a survey conducted among Zetlanders about their summer holiday aims.
The data show that 33 percent of the respondents travel mainly "to visit relatives and friends", while 29 percent said their aim is "to have a nice beach holiday". A further 20 percent go "to see new places".
Comparing the two least common aims is interesting: only 12 percent travel "to enjoy nature", and just 6 percent go "to have adventure". Neither nature nor adventure attracts many travellers, which shows that summer trips in Zetland are planned around people and comfort rather than around discovery.
A crowded resort can quickly ruin the relaxed atmosphere that people expect from a beach holiday, especially during the busiest weeks of summer. Travelling slightly earlier or later in the season, when prices drop and beaches empty, solves this problem rather neatly. Booking accommodation several months ahead usually helps a great deal as well.
In conclusion, in my opinion, the most exciting summer holiday is one that manages to combine a relaxing beach with the chance to explore somewhere completely new, because it offers both proper rest and truly unforgettable memories at the very same time.
