Task 4. Imagine that you and your friend are doing a school project “Volunteering”. You have found some photos to illustrate it but for technical reasons you cannot send them now. Leave a voice message to your friend explaining your choice of the photos and sharing some ideas about the project. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:
·explain the choice of the illustrations for the project by briefly describing them and noting the differences;
·mention the advantages (1–2) of the two types of volunteering;
·mention the disadvantages (1–2) of the two types of volunteering;
·express your opinion on the subject of the project – which type of volunteering presented in the pictures you’d prefer and why.
You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (12–15 sentences). You have to talk continuously.

Что нужно сделать. 1) объяснить выбор фотографий, кратко описав их и отметив различия; 2) назвать 1–2 достоинства двух видов волонтёрства; 3) назвать 1–2 недостатка этих видов волонтёрства; 4) высказать мнение — какой вид волонтёрства на фотографиях вы бы предпочли и почему.

Amy, the volunteering project — two photos, and they're about pretty different kinds of helping out. The first shows a group of people in gloves collecting litter into a black bag along a riverbank. The second has a woman gently petting a dog at what looks like an animal shelter. Cleaning up outdoors and caring for an animal in a shelter aren't much alike, but both count as proper volunteering, which is the point.
Cleaning up litter genuinely protects nature and keeps parks and rivers nice for everyone who uses them. Helping at a shelter gives homeless animals proper care and attention, and honestly a real shot at a better life. The downside of litter picking is that it's dirty, and sometimes properly unpleasant, work. Shelter work can be emotionally hard too, especially once you get attached to an animal you can't take home.
Given the choice, I'd pick the animal shelter — I love animals, and looking after them just feels rewarding. Litter picking does plenty of good as well, but working with animals means more to me personally. Both kinds of volunteering matter a lot, honestly, but the shelter is closer to my heart.
