I am currently doing a school project that looks at why so many Zetland teenagers spend their summer holidays at a youth camp. To gather material, I found the results of an opinion poll conducted among teenagers in Zetland who attend such camps.
The table shows that 55 percent of the teenagers surveyed go to a camp mainly "to make new friends", while 15 percent go "to take part in fun activities". A further 12 percent choose a camp "to visit new places".
If we compare the two least common reasons, only 10 percent go "to take up a new hobby", and merely 8 percent go "to become more independent". The social side of a camp clearly matters more than its activities or independence.
Homesickness during the first days away from family is common among teenagers attending a youth camp for the first time. A short phone call home each evening usually helps a homesick teenager settle in far more quickly. Camp counsellors could also pair new arrivals with more experienced campers during the very first evening.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that summer youth camps are important, because they genuinely teach teenagers how to build friendships and cooperate with their peers in a way that ordinary everyday school life rarely allows them the chance to do.
Вариант 38.2 (pie chart). Тема проекта — какие фотографии подростки Зетландии чаще всего публикуют в интернете. Источник данных — pie chart, опрос среди: teenagers in Zetland. Проблема, связанная с увлечением фотографией (пункт 4 плана); мнение о важности качественных фотографий, публикуемых подростками (пункт 5 плана).
Данные диаграммы. Вопрос опроса: «Types of photos teenagers in Zetland post on the Internet most often». «Selfies» — 36%; «Sights» — 34%; «Landscapes» — 20%; «Food» — 7%; «Animals» — 3%.
Возможный ответ (38.2).
I am currently working on a school project that explores the kind of photos Zetland teenagers most often share online. To research this, I found a pie chart with the results of an opinion poll conducted among teenagers in Zetland.
According to the data, 36 percent of the respondents post "selfies" most often, while 34 percent prefer posting "sights". A further 20 percent mainly share pictures of "landscapes". These figures suggest that teenagers mainly use photography to present themselves and their travels online.
Comparing the two least common types is revealing: only 7 percent post pictures of "food", and just 3 percent share photos of "animals". Teenagers focus mainly on themselves and places they visit rather than everyday objects. The narrow gap between the top two answers suggests that Zetland teenagers see themselves and the places they visit as almost equally worth sharing online.
Chasing the perfect shot can take over an entire outing, leaving a teenager more focused on the camera than on the moment itself. Setting a personal limit of just a few photos before putting the phone away keeps this in check. Choosing quality over quantity almost always leads to a far more enjoyable outing overall.
To conclude, in my opinion, good quality photographs posted by teenagers online are genuinely valuable, because they can inspire other people to travel, to explore unfamiliar sights and to appreciate their own surroundings a little more.
