Imagine that you are doing a project on why Zetlanders rarely buy Christmas presents online. You have found some data on the subject – the results of a survey (see the table below) .
Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project.

Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project.

What is the most effective method of learning new words in a foreign language?
Write 200–250 words.
Use the following plan:
–make an opening statement on the subject of the project;
–select and report 2–3 facts;
–make 1–2 comparisons where relevant and give your comments;
– outline a problem that can arise with learning a foreign language and suggest a way of solving it;
– conclude by giving and explaining your opinion on the importance of learning foreign languages.

I am currently working on a project about why Zetlanders rarely buy Christmas presents online. To gather some data, I have found the results of a survey that asked respondents in Zetland why they avoid online shopping for gifts.
According to the table, more than half of the respondents, 52 per cent, said it is "difficult to find a high-quality present" online. Another 18 per cent mentioned that the photo of an item may be deceptive, and 13 per cent complained about the time it takes to choose one.
Difficulty in finding quality goods is almost three times as common a concern as a deceptive photo, and almost nine times as common as the lack of gift packaging, which was named by only 6 per cent of the people surveyed, the smallest group in the survey.
A problem that can arise with buying presents online is receiving an item that does not match its description at all. To avoid disappointment, shoppers should always read customer reviews and check the seller's rating carefully before making a purchase, rather than trusting the photo alone.
In conclusion, I am convinced that it is not always advisable to buy Christmas presents online, because a gift chosen in person allows the buyer to check its quality and packaging, which matters a great deal on such a special occasion.

I am currently working on a project about vocabulary techniques that work best for Zetland teenagers learning a foreign language. To gather some data, I have found the results of a survey that asked teenagers in Zetland about their favourite way of remembering words.
The pie chart reveals that almost half of the respondents, 48 per cent, prefer to "make paper cards with words", while 20 per cent said they use a mobile application instead. Making sentences with new words was chosen by 18 per cent of the teenagers.
Making paper cards is more than twice as popular as using an app, and almost ten times more popular than learning word lists by heart, which only 5 per cent of the respondents chose. A hands-on, visual approach clearly works best for most teenagers here.
Even the most reliable method has its weak point, though: newly learned words tend to slip from memory within a few days unless they are used again. A sound remedy is to review vocabulary at set intervals, for instance by testing oneself several days after first meeting a word.
In conclusion, I believe that being able to communicate in another language is extremely valuable nowadays, since it opens up opportunities for travel, study and work abroad, and every learner should pick whichever memorising technique suits their own mind best.
