Задание 38.1 (на основе таблицы).

Что нужно сделать. Тема проекта — почему многие молодые жители Зетландии выбирают профессию врача. Источник данных — результаты опроса на вопрос "Why have you chosen a career in medicine?". По плану: вступление о теме проекта и об опросе; 2–3 факта с цифрами; 1–2 сравнения с комментарием; проблема, связанная с учёбой на медицинских специальностях, и её решение; в заключении — мнение автора о важности врачей в современном мире с обоснованием.

I am currently working on a project about why many young Zetlanders choose the medical profession. To collect some data, I have found the results of a survey that asked young people in Zetland why they had chosen a career in medicine.

The table shows that almost half of the respondents, 48 per cent, chose medicine because of a "desire to help people", while 20 per cent said they have a passion for biology. Public significance was named by 18 per cent of the young people.

The desire to help people is nearly ten times as common a motive as job stability and demand, which attracted only 5 per cent of the respondents, and more than five times as common as high salary, chosen by 9 per cent.

Yet training to be a doctor is famously demanding: the heavy workload combined with the emotional strain of clinical practice can wear students down over the years. Regular counselling and a more manageable study schedule from medical schools would go some way towards easing this burden.

To sum up, I am convinced that doctors play a vital role in today's world, since they protect people's health and save lives every day, and society should do more to support young people who choose this demanding profession.

Источник данных — результаты опроса на вопрос "What activities do you prefer to do with your parents?". По плану: вступление о теме проекта и об опросе; 2–3 факта с цифрами; 1–2 сравнения с комментарием; проблема, связанная с совместным досугом подростков и родителей, и её решение; в заключении — мнение автора о лучшем способе проведения свободного времени подростками с обоснованием.

I am currently working on a project about how Zetland teenagers like to spend time together with their parents. To gather some data, I have found the results of a survey that asked teenagers in Zetland about their favourite shared pastimes.

The pie chart shows that 37 per cent of the respondents named "hiking" as their favourite shared activity, while 26 per cent chose shopping. Watching TV together was mentioned by 22 per cent of the teenagers, playing board games by 12 per cent, and only 3 per cent picked housework.

Hiking is noticeably more popular than shopping, and more than twelve times more popular than housework, which shows that teenagers value active outdoor activities with their parents far more than everyday chores around the house.

Naturally, such joint plans do not always run smoothly: parents and teenagers can have quite different tastes, which sometimes makes an outing feel dull for one side. Letting each family member propose an activity in turn is a fair way of keeping everybody genuinely interested.

All things considered, I would say that doing something active outdoors, hiking being a fine example, is how teenagers should best spend their spare time, since shared movement and fresh air leave them feeling far more refreshed than sitting in front of a screen.
